Kunde in Kenwood has a wonderful new sit down service called the Kinneybrook Room. It's in the tasting room so it's festive but comfortable. The menu is printed and includes cheese with wines. Their web description comes across as a little stuffy (IMHO), maybe because it is a new concept for them; but I found it very comfortable and the best way to experience their wines.
Seghesio has a new sit down service called, Family Tables. I haven't done it yet but it looks like a lot of fun. I was there last week and everyone was very enthusiastic about it.
The Mayo Tasting Room in Kenwood does food & wine pairings and I know they were getting raves when they opened (3 or 4 years ago?). I haven't even made it there yet! OK, now it's on my list...
Hess has what we call 'The Tour of the Palate'. It starts with a tour fo the private art collection of Donald Hess and then goes into the private library dining room or the VIP room where the host introduces you to 3 current release wines. The chef then brings out 3 appetizers that are created to show the wines off in their best light. The program is available Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There are two seatings, one at 10:00 am and one at 2:00 pm. Advance reservations recommended. Cost is $35.00 per person on Thursday, and $40.00 per person on Friday and Saturday.
J Vineyards in the Healdsburg area has a very nice tasting menu, featuring both still and sparkling wines. Relax and enjoy the pairings in a very comfortable lounge-like area. Great!
Hess also has a lovely cheese and wine pairing that is available. We usually set it up in either the 1903 Barrel room or if the weather is nice, out in the garden. Cost is $25.00 Monday - Thursday, $30.00 Fri- Sunday.
